Center Representatives Attend the 103rd IADR General Session and Engage in Academic Exchange

To enhance the scientific capabilities of the Shanghai Biomaterials Research & Testing Center, broaden academic horizons, and promote international collaboration, Professor Xin Liu, Hua Lu, and Baiyan Sui attended the 103rd General Session of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR), held in Barcelona, Spain, from June 25 to 28, 2025. The conference, hosted at the Barcelona International Convention Center, brought together experts from around the world in the fields of oral, dental, and craniofacial research to share the latest developments in dental biomaterials, tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and clinical research, greatly enriching the participants' academic perspectives.

During the conference, Prof. Liu presented a poster titled "Antibacterial Mechanisms of MgH₂ Microparticles Against Oral Pathogens," which elaborated on the antibacterial mechanisms and potential clinical applications of magnesium hydride microparticles. Lecturer Lu presented her work "Degradation, Osteogenesis, and Biosafety of Magnesium Implants in Cranio-maxillofacial Applications," providing a comprehensive overview of the degradation behavior, osteogenic properties, and biosafety of magnesium-based implants for cranio-maxillofacial tissue repair. Lecturer Sui showcased his poster "Piezoelectric Stimulation Drives Mandible Regeneration via Macrophage Reprogramming," offering an in-depth analysis of how piezoelectric stimulation promotes mandibular regeneration through macrophage modulation. The three researchers engaged in in-depth discussions with international peers on topics including biomaterials development, biocompatibility evaluation models, and strategies for clinical translation, receiving valuable and constructive feedback.

This conference highlighted the center’s research achievements in novel dental materials, magnesium-based bone implants, and piezoelectric immunomodulatory mechanisms, earning recognition from the international academic community. The team plans to incorporate the new insights and technologies gained during the conference into ongoing projects and organize internal seminars to promote further innovation and optimization. This successful academic exchange fully demonstrated the center’s innovative capabilities in novel biomaterials and advanced medical device research, testing, and evaluation, and laid a solid foundation for future international cooperation.
